We are the Cumberland County branch of South Jersey DSA. As socialists and members of the working class, we fight the bosses to build a future for everyone, not just the 1%. With the death of Cumberland’s industry from Reagan’s Neoliberalism and environmental challenges, the working people of our county are often without the ability to even sustain themselves, with an unemployment rate nearly double the rest of the state. The capitalist class only cares for profits, and there are no profits in helping a struggling population, we need to build our own future.
We are committed to building a Cumberland County that is a sanctuary for immigrants and migrant workers, the divide between “citizen” and “noncitizen” workers is an arbitrary one created by the wealthy. We must work to fight ICE so that Cumberland immigrant community can live without fear! We regularly conduct know your rights canvasses in various Cumberland towns and are working to build a rapid response network against ICE.
