Book for the month of June:
“Marxism and the Oppression of Women” by Lise Vogel
Considered to be one of the most important contributions to Marxist Feminsim, in this book Vogel presents an argument for Marxism’s ability to analyze the issues that women face and their struggle for liberation. In this book you can expect to see Vogel’s analysis of Marx and Engels’s comments on women’s oppression, how socialist movements in Europe and the US address women’s oppression, and the framing of women’s oppression in terms of their societal roles.
